I led a group session for staff supporting patients undergoing cancer treatment, focusing on navigating their own relationship with grief while helping clients through their journeys. The session provided a space for participants to feel less alone and foster a sense of understanding, addressing the unique challenges of those in the helping field who often experience burnout and compassion fatigue.
By emphasizing the importance of self-awareness, staff explored how tending to their own emotions can lead to greater resilience and less burnout. Through mindfulness practices and shared experiences, they gained tools to process grief and reconnect with their sense of purpose, enhancing their ability to support patients while prioritizing their own well-being.
